High School Credit Completion Program

What is the High School Credit Completion Program?
CGCC's High School Completion Program offers an opportunity for students to earn high school credits which are then transferred back to the resident high school. The student is planning to receive the district's diploma, but is in need of additional coursework in order to earn credits for graduation requirements.

How can a student participate?
Program information and referral forms are provided to High School Counselors each year. The High School Counselor completes a referral form indicating which "Supervised Independent Study Courses" are needed and reviews the policies and expectations with the student. The student then brings that form and tuition (or tuition voucher from the high school) to the Hood River Indian Creek Campus.  This program is not offered at The Dalles Campus. The Policy and Referral Form can be found at the bottom of this page.

What exactly is a Supervised Independent Study Class?
In a "Supervised Independent Study," students receive and apply content through reading, computer-based work, pencil-and-paper assignments, and projects. Instructors are there to explain concepts, answer questions, tutor and guide you, but there is not a "classroom lecture" component. Some of the coursework needs to be completed at the Hood River Campus, Room 1.204, such as computer-based assignments and tests, but you may also work on your coursework at home or at the College Library.

What courses are available? (each course is .5 credit)

  • Introduction to Short Stories
  • Composition
  • Global Studies
  • U. S. History I
